Join APABA-DC Book Club in April to discuss The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan, which follows the intertwined lives of a mother, Lucia, and her daughter, Violet, across two continents and several decades, from the fall of imperial China through the rise of the Republic and into the era of WWII. The book explores themes of mother-daughter relationships, inherited trauma, identity, and love, set against the backdrop of Shanghai's courtesan houses and the lives of "Shanghailanders."
